A horse is the projection of peoples’ dreams about themselves — strong, powerful, beautiful — and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence. ~Pam Brown
The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington Kentucky provided the ultimate escape from the mundane during the EQUUS FILM & ARTS FEST December 5-8 2019
Filmmakers, artists and authors gathered to pay homage to the love of horses through expressive multi-media. Under the direction of founder Lisa Diersen, the mission was accomplished.

OUR MISSION
Be the home to the horse storytellers of the world….
People love the idea and we love sharing our love of horses with the world. We are a platform to educate and enlighten the world to all issues related to horses.
The theme of that mission was evident throughout the event. Horses helping mankind, mankind’s attempt to give back.
An award-winning heartwarming story about an 8-year-old boy with Down Syndrome and a very special little 28-year-old pony. The new film “A Pony And His Boy”, is one of those stories. Many people have now found the wonderful power of horses to help break through the silence of Autism and the pain of PTSD. Berry, the pony star of the film, teaches us that even though a pony may be old it doesn’t mean he can’t find a new job and be loved.
Every picture tells a story…

You can see all of the films from The EQUUS Film Channel on Horse Network.
The Art Entries Could Easily Be Dubbed “Eye Candy for Equestrians.”
I was honored to share a “stall” in the Literary Corral with an amazing woman, Berenice Ende. known as Lady Long Rider. At the age of 50, Bernice saddled up into the unknown and began her first trip on her way to becoming a world-class long rider. Since that fateful decision she hasn’t looked back. Accompanied by her horses and an exceptional dog named Claire, Ende has logged more than 29,000 miles in the saddle, crisscrossing North America and beyond.
The EQUUS Film & Arts Festival is so much more than movies, books and artwork. It’s a forum that creates awareness of issues affecting both horses and humans, and how the equestrian community comes together benefiting both. Panel discussions, demonstrations, interviews with experts and passionate people championing justice, kindness, compassion & rehabilitation for all.
